Can anyone enter the Competition ?
Only current S5 and S6 students at one of the 5 Perth City Schools can enter. Students must have a current UCAS offer for a University place.
Can I enter more than once ?
No. Each student can only enter once. However, a Student can enter each literacy category - langauge and technology.
Are prizes paid in cash or vouchers ?
All prizes will be cash value paid via a cheque. All prizes will be distributed via students current school.
Will the competition be run every year ?
Yes. Prizes will be awared annually.
Can I withdraw my entry ?
Yes. Simply use the Contact Us facility on the website to request your application to be withdrawn. Please ensure you use the same email address as the original online application.
How do I enter the literature competition?
All entries are excepted online - via this website - simply follow the Apply Online instructions.
Will I get confirmation my application has been received ?
Yes. Once the online application has been completed, you will receive email confirmation of receipt. Please note, this is not a check of the quality of your submission.
Can I put my name on my entry ?
Absolutely not. Entries are judged anonymously, so please make sure your name does NOT appear on any entry.
What file format should I use for my online entry ?
All files uploaded must be Microsoft Office (.dox/.docx), or PDF format. Any other format will risk entry being returned and an application fail.
Will you contact my school should I reach the short list or win ?
Yes. The Foundadtion will validate your entry with your school, and confirm UCAS offer.
When would I receive my prize ?
Prixe winners will be notified by their School/University, and awards made before the end of August each year.
Does my application have to be all my own work ?
Yes. Short-listed and winning entries will only be accepted for 100% orginal work. A plagiarism checker will be used to validate all short-listed entries.
How will I be kept up-to-date with application progress ?
Automated e-mails will be sent to the email address used when entering online.
Is there somewhere I can chat to other students and competition entrants?
Yes. You can register for the Student Forum on this website, and join in the chat - topics will be varied and may help with your entry and other available online literature competions.
Is there a fee to apply ?
No. Entry is free.
Will I receive feedback for my entry ?
Only short-listed and winning entries will be commented on by the judges. This will be available upon request.
What should I do if I have made a mistake with my entry ?
If you have already upload a file, and believe it to be the wrong file or in the wrong format. Please use the Contact Us facility on this website to request a change, and we will work with you to resolve. Please ensure you use the same email address to contact us as used with original entry.
What if I miss the deadline for my application submission ?
Sorry, but late entries will not be accepted.
Can I enter by Post ?
No. The entries are in an online format only.
How should I format my entry ?
Double-spaced, single-sided, font size 12 in a commonly used font, such as Cambria, Calibri, Times New Roman or Arial. Legibility is the important thing
Should my pages be numbered ?
It is helpful to add page numbers but not necessary.
Should my title appear on my work ?
Yes, please.
What should my upload file be titled ?
Anything you’d like, but most people use the title of the creative work being entered.
What are the timescales for all entries ?
Please review the Timescales section for all application closing dates, judging dates and prize award dates.
